Julius Aka is a master student of energy systems at University of Technology Hamburg and is currently pursuing an exchange year at U.C. Berkeley. He has a bachelor in General Engineering Science with an specialization to Energy and Environmental Technologies. Julius’s bachelor thesis explored the simulation of a heat-pump based heating system of a large-scale office building. During an internship, he worked at the electrothermal energy storage ETES of Siemens Gamesa. His research interests are focused around technologies which enables higher usage of intermittent renewable energy sources, namely intelligent control, energy storage technologies and sustainable heating systems. Currently, Julius supports the GEMINI-XFC project in developing a controller for charging depots of automated on-demand vehicle fleets.
